This article describes the four British Glacier company developed bearing materials. AS 104 (AlSn10Si4Cu1) and RB77E (AlSn10Si4Cu2) are aluminum-tin-silicon alloys, which are continuously cast and then rolled onto a steel back with an aluminum foil interlayer between them and finally heat-treated to achieve the desired properties. The microstructure is a continuous or reticulated tin phase with associated dispersed silicon particles. This article also lists the performance of these bearing materials and their applications. At the same time, the new DP3 and Hi-eX polymer bearing materials developed by the company are also introduced. The method of anti-seizure test on “Sapphire” fatigue test bench is also discussed.
