深圳铁路新客站位于深圳罗湖桥头,与香港一河之隔,是内地铁路连通香港和我国对外交往的重要客运车站。深圳新客站工程,占地总面积26000m2,站屋建筑总面积98932m~2,整个工程分两期进行。首期工程台站场、站屋、站台、雨棚、通信、信号、人行、行包、邮包地道,以及给排水、电力等工程的改扩建.东主楼站屋于1990年6月下旬破土动工。在铁道部、深圳市和广州铁路局的关怀下,经过3000多名建设者15个月的奋力拼搏,提前3个月实现了东主楼落成剪彩的目标。新客站东主楼南北宽215m,东西进深41m,高53.7m,地上11层,地下2层。内设进站大厅、国内旅客与港澳旅客分设售票厅、候车室,行包托运以及邮电、汇兑、商场、餐厅、酒店、贵宾室等,集交通、邮电、金融、商贸、旅游为一体。车站东主楼南端设有走廊与深圳联检大楼相连接,港澳旅客高进高出,国内旅客高进低出,高架候车,东西开口,流线合理,互不交叉。此外楼内还为深圳二线监管修建了联检场地。
