Patashvili is one of the most influential photographers in Soviet films in recent years. In his films “The Children of Others”, “Runaway” and “Under the Same Sky,” he constantly explores and makes use of various photography techniques explored in his “Lovers’ Song” Widespread attention. Recently, he himself said: “When filming the Siberian Orthodox (a four-episode feature film), I carefully summed up all the lessons I’ve learned over the years to establish a fairly complete system.” Film theorist Goldsdorf Kaya wrote this article mainly on the basis of his own account of Patashvili’s visit, outlined his path to photography and directly quoted Patashvili’s own remarks. Modern film language has undergone major developments in many areas, most notably in the changes in photography. The main purpose of this article is to analyze Patashvili’s creation and introduce “the process of the evolution of photographic art in the past two decades”, which helps us understand the historical development and current tendencies of the film language from a single perspective. This article excerpts from the seventh of 1979 the Soviet Union “movie art” magazine.
