US neuroscientists have found that astronauts who perform long-term space missions suffer brain damage due to cosmic rays. Studies have shown that prolonged exposure to interstellar radiation can cause changes in the structure of nerve cells in the brain. In a study, neuroscientists found that rats exposed to energetic particles were more prone to delirium and reduced curiosity, warning that similar effects on human brains would reduce astronauts’ ability to respond to new situations and solve problems These capabilities, however, play a crucial role in the implementation of the dangerous space mission.
