几何地震学与物理地震学分别从两个侧面描述了地震波的传播过程,它们描述的方式是完全不同的。但是这两种描述方式都同时受到人们的承认,不可能利用一种描述方式去否定另一种描述方式。现在能否有一种统一的理论把物理地震学和几何地震学统一起来呢?这种统一理论的出发点就是同时承认这两种理论的基本规律,也就是说要找到一种新的描述方式,它既能满足几何地震学的定律,也能满足物理地震学的基本概念。
Geometrical and physical seismology describe the propagation of seismic waves from two different directions, and the way they are described is quite different.
