萃锦园,即恭王府花园。始建于清朝乾隆四十年间,据考证是在明代旧园的基础上重建而成。中国早在明代就出现了洋式建筑,到乾隆年前,随着中西文化交流日益频繁,西洋的建筑风格对中国的建筑形式产生了深远的影响。而被誉为恭王府三绝之一的西洋门,是目前国内现存最大的汉白玉整雕门,其整体采用西洋建筑形式,而细部设计则运用本土化语言,是中西文化融合的产物,其设计手法对于当前设计和建筑领域也带来一定的启发。
