画报是中国近代报刊传媒中的重要种类,它因图文并茂、艺术与信息兼备的特点而受到广大读者青睐。《点石斋画报》、《北洋画报》、《立言画刊》、《国剧画报》等大型刊物已为今人所熟知,然而对于创办于天津的《语美画刊》(封面见图1),学界却关注甚少。实际上这份画报风格鲜明,独具特色,内容丰富,涉及文化、考古、美术等诸多方面,其中包含了不少珍贵的戏曲史料。
Pictorial is an important category in the media of modern Chinese newspapers and periodns. It is favored by readers due to its rich illustrations, rich artistry and information. The famous publications such as Dianshizhai Pictorial, Beiyang Pictorial, Liyan Pictorial, and Guotu Pictorial are well known to the present, however, for the “Chinese-American Pictorial” founded in Tianjin (the cover is shown in Figure 1 ), Academia has paid little attention. In fact, the pictorial posters are distinctive, distinctive and rich in content. They cover many aspects such as culture, archeology and fine arts, and contain many precious historical materials.
