The hypothalamic GnRH pulsator regulates the release of GnRH intermittently into the pituitary portal circulation, which in turn modulates the pulsatile secretion of LH. A variety of internal and external factors can correct GnRH pulse generator activity, which changes the gonadotropin secretion patterns and ultimately affect reproductive function. Multi-unit activity (MUA) recording techniques were used to record a characteristic increase in neuronal activity associated with LH pulsatile secretion from ovariectomized goats and estrous cycle goats. The MUA burst increased periodically and remained well correlated with the LH pulse, which was the result of GnRH pulser activity. This article reviews the long-term record of GnRH pulser activities and their applications
