Objective: To investigate the relationship between urinary macrophages and renal dysfunction in patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN). Methods: The urinary macrophages of 30 patients with IgAN were determined by flow cytometry (FCM) and compared with the degree of renal dysfunction. Results: The levels of urinary macrophages in the mild renal impairment group were (10.5 ± 2.7)%, the levels of urinary macrophages in the moderate and severe renal injury group were (24.1 ± 3.6)%, and those in the moderate and severe renal impairment group The content of phagocytic cells was significantly higher than that of mild renal dysfunction group (P <0.05). Conclusion: The detection of urinary macrophages can be used as one of the indicators to help determine the degree of IgAN renal injury.
