The advantages of PC-based technology for machine and process control have been advertised for many times, and suppliers offer a variety of new products with both hardware and software. ARC recently pointed out in the “soft logic” market research that the soft logic market did not achieve the growth rate predicted by the previous ARC, mainly because of the maturity and certainty of choosing the Microsoft Windows NT market product as the main platform, and the introduction of Window CE. This further complicates the situation.
