板蓝根,别名大青叶、蓝靛根,为十字花科大青属植物菘蓝的根,两年生草本植物。以根入药称为板蓝根,以叶入药称为大青叶。药理实验证明,板蓝根有很好的广谱抗菌作用,对多种杆菌和病毒病有很好的疗效。味苦、性寒,有清热解毒、凉血、利咽、消肿、消斑等功能,主治流行性感冒、流行性腮腺炎、急性传染性肝炎等症。板蓝根是国家重点发展保护的中草药品种,分布于长江流域各省区,现各地均有栽培。
