所谓“黄金”温泉,其实是位于埃塞俄比亚宽干谷的天然硫黄泉景观,它是一座埋藏在1千米厚的盐层底下的火山。当地下上升的岩浆与地球地表下的水接触时,就导致蒸汽喷发。在地上它表现为色彩斑斓的泉水和盐土地貌上奇特的喷气孔,硫黄以及其他矿床。其地表鲜艳的黄色与深沉的棕色都是这里高浓度的盐造成的。而其固态的盐山也几乎与附近的土堆一样高。因为硫黄泉的主要成分为硫化氢,其显著特点是走近温泉,即可闻到臭蛋气味。硫黄泉具有软化皮肤、溶解角质、灭菌、杀虫等作
