(Godlee F.First do no harm[J].BMJ,2013,347:f4843)
Excerpt: Many countries in the world have begun to respond to the World Health Organization’s call for the introduction of children’s hepatitis B vaccination. However, the six Nordic countries including Britain still refuse this plan. As many as 2 billion people have global hepatitis B infections and 14 million chronic hepatitis B patients in Europe. Hundreds of millions of people die prematurely from chronic hepatitis B infection. Some scholars oppose vaccination in countries with low incidence. They think the main goal of hepatitis B prevention is to prevent individuals from becoming carriers of virus. Children vaccinated against hepatitis B virus have little effect on reducing virus carrier. (Godlee F. First do no harm [J]. BMJ, 2013, 347: f4843)
