In order to investigate the role of hepatitis B and C virus infection in the development of liver cancer and the effect of overlapping infections of two viruses on the malignancy of liver disease. We detected HBV DNA and hepatitis C virus (HCV) in 52 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma by polymerase chain reaction and ELISA. The positive rates were 75.0%. , 385%. The overlap infection rate between the two was 28.8%. The serum of 54 patients with acute hepatitis was selected as a control. The detection rate was 44.0%, 22.2%, and 5.5%. The results of this experiment suggest that hepatitis B virus infection plays a major role in the occurrence of primary hepatocellular carcinoma in China. Hepatitis C virus infection, especially two viruses, can not ignore the chronicity, severity, and canceration of liver disease. Impact
