Project management is a program management approach developed in the late 1950s. Its knowledge and methodologies are applied to most projects most of the time, and their value and usefulness are widely recognized. Project management is sometimes used to describe the organizational approach to managing ongoing day-to-day operations. A more appropriate title for such an approach would be project-based management, which considered many aspects of ongoing operations as projects and the use of project management techniques to manage them.
