In my childhood, my family only subscribed to the Mandarin Daily, and one of the unforgettable family lives was that my mother would read to the dad who was busy with work and listened to my homework. Dad is a southern Fujianese and her mother is a Taiwanese who is Japanese-educated. The environment I grew up with is that of the south-north-north. However, the foundation of Mandarin is mostly rooted in family education, and the family’s habit of reading newspapers has contributed. The best content for a family-subscribed newspaper is for the whole family. Newspapers have different layouts. Usually, people who read the newspaper will always see what they are interested in.
