从宏观上看,在新时期十余年的中国电视剧发展史上,受人注目、思想艺术都有特色的作品,大都和鲜明的地域文化风貌相关联。从“京味”电视剧的代表作《四世同堂》,至近期的南方都市电视剧,如“海派”代表作《上海的早晨》、《大酒店》、《十六岁花季》、《结婚一年间》;如“岭南”风格的《商界》、《公关小姐》等等,都是如此。新近完成的、据钱钟书先生文学名著改编的十集连续剧《围城》,再次在这一方面予人以新的启发和思考。
