在八十多幅小小的铜版画中,戈雅塑造了众多人物,有活生生的人正在经受煎熬,也有已经死去,正在腐烂的尸体,有遭受侮辱的女人,也有掩面哭泣的老人,在镀膜的铜板上寥寥数笔就栩栩如生,每个人的年龄、特征、表情、目光、情绪、过去和未来,给了观者一个巨大的想象空间。那不仅仅是画中人的恐惧和绝望,也是戈雅作为亲历者的恐惧和绝望,也是我们每个人对待生命中残酷和折磨的恐惧和绝望,时隔数百年依旧清晰。
