“遗传工程”又称“基因工程”,它的含义是用人工合成基因和基因转移等技术,将一种生物的DNA片段转移到另一种生物的活细胞里,渗入或整合在它的DNA中,从而改变它的遗传结构和某些特性,使之符合人们的意愿。由于分子生物学的发展,现在已有可能打破生物种间界限进行基因的转移,实现分子的体外重组或转化,获得重组体或转化体。这种分子水平加工转移物质的技术,为生物品系,包括人类在内的遗传特征的研究和控制开辟了广阔的前景。
