香港大学由香港西医书院和香港官立技术专科学校合并而成,于1911年在香港正式创立。香港大学是香港历史最悠久的高等教育机构。1912年3月11日正式开学,1916年12月举行首次毕业典礼,仅有23名毕业生。第二次世界大战爆发,香港大学一度处于瘫痪状态,1941年教学全面中止。1948年4月9日复校后,秩序重建与结构转型并举,学校步入高速发展的黄金期。
The University of Hong Kong, a combination of the Hong Kong Western Medical College and the Hong Kong Government Technical College, was formally established in Hong Kong in 1911. The University of Hong Kong is Hong Kong’s oldest institution of higher education. March 11, 1912 officially opened in December 1916 held its first graduation ceremony, only 23 graduates. After the outbreak of World War II, Hong Kong University was paralyzed for a time and teaching was suspended in 1941. After the school was resumed on April 9, 1948, both the order reconstruction and structural transformation brought the school into a golden period of rapid development.
