政治人类学长期以来几乎只限于研究边远社会的传统组织，现在则已开始研究不断变化的现代世界。近来，新闻媒体以娱乐形式显示出自身的影响力，政治人类学对于这方面的发展，已经有了一些研究；本文则对这方面的成果作了介绍。另一方面，政治活动范围和政治认同的重组，全球化所引起的张力，跨国组织的出现等现象又引发了新的问题；人类学也拓宽了研究的框架。为了了解民族主义、多文化科层制的出现、公民参与政治行动等问题，又使重新研究人类学概念和问题成为一项基本的要求并形成了新的研究领域。本文对这些主要的趋势作了介绍
Political anthropology has long been confined almost to the traditional organization of studying remote societies and has now begun to study the ever-changing modern world. Recently, the news media has shown its own influence in the form of entertainment. There has been some research on political anthropology for its development in this respect. This article introduces the achievements in this field. On the other hand, the reorganization of the scope of political activities and political identity, the tensions caused by globalization and the emergence of multinational organizations have triggered new problems. Anthropology has also broadened the framework for the study. In order to understand nationalism, the emergence of a multi-cultural bureaucracy and the participation of citizens in political actions have also made it necessary to re-study the concepts and problems of anthropology and form new fields of research. This article describes these major trends
