毛泽东主席关於中国现代革命运动的发展,曾经指示我们说: “这个革命的第一步、第一阶段,决不是也不能建立中国资产阶级专政的资本主义的社会,而是要建立以中国无产阶级为首领的中国各个革命阶级联合专政的新民主主义的社会,以完结其第一阶段。然後,再使之发展到第二阶段,以建立中国社会主义的社会。”(新民主主义论) 现在,新民主主义革命阶段,由於帝国主义被赶出中国,蒋匪帮的买办法西斯统治已被推翻,农村中民主主义的土地改革已基本完成。就是说反帝反封建的阶段已经胜利的结束。总路线就标志这个革命的第一阶段胜利结束和第二阶段,社会主义革命阶段已经开始。
