英语修辞格pun(双关语)也称paronomsia,来自拉丁语paronomazein一词,意为“以不同的名称称呼”。双关语是英语中一种重要的修辞手法,也是英语中常见的一种幽默形式。它巧妙地利用词的谐音、词的多义或歧义等,使语言表达含蓄曲折、风趣幽默,引起读者的联想。现代的双关语已变得日趋通俗、诙谐,它的妙用可达到生动活泼、嘲弄讥讽的修辞效果。其构成方式主要有以下几种:
