For Naipaul, the root cause of this turmoil is not political instability in India, but not economic poverty. Its root cause lies in the Indian civilization. The outbreak of turmoil essentially reflects that the ancient Indian civilization was fragile and could no longer meet the needs of the modernized Indian society. Hidden behind the emergency is the larger, crisis of Indian civilization. To put it more clearly, through a state of emergency, Naipaul pondered on the question of the relationship between another ancient homeland of ancient civilizations of great civilization and the traditions and the modernity of its immediate neighbors in China, and put forward the proposition that we must completely abandon the tradition.
