吉县位于山西省西南部吕梁山脉的南端,县西为晋陕峡谷中南段东侧,黄河在谷底汹涌激宕、自北向南流;县北人祖山(海拔1742.4米)天然次生林区、群峰竟秀、翠木参天、同大宁县毗连;县东南两面越乡宁县境之秦王、马头二山与尧都平阳(临汾)后稷故土(稷山)及殷域屈地(河津)所在之汾河下游接壤(图一)1980年初,在该遗址的柿子滩地点西部防风崖裸露的二叠系黄绿色岩龛下,见到不少红褐涂画痕迹。(图
Jixian County is located in the southern tip of the Lvliang Mountains in the southwest of Shanxi Province.
