From June 18 to January 21, 1991, the seminar on human rights theory hosted by the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was held in Beijing. Nearly 70 experts and scholars from all over the country attended the conference. The conference received more than 30 papers. Guided by Marxism, the conference adhered to the principle of “two hundreds” and in-depth discussions on basic theories and major practical issues related to human rights in the light of international and domestic realities.
