Rats were divided into three groups for experiments: (1) aortic stenosis group; (2) captopril-aortic stenosis group; (3) normal control group. After 4 weeks of examination, the average carotid artery blood pressure: (1) was significantly higher, (2) also increased. Plasma renin, angiotensin and aldosterone levels: (1) were elevated; (2) elevated renin, angiotensin II and aldosterone decreased. Adrenal weight: (1) increased significantly; most of the stereological parameters of adrenal globular cells showed (1) increased (3), (2) decreased. The above results indicate that the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system plays a role in the formation of abdominal aortic stenosis hypertension.
