“PPS”抽样是抽样方法大家族中的一员。与其他成员所不同的是,惟独他的中文译名最为拗口,也最容易引起歧意。无从知道“PPS”抽样的最初译文出自哪里,比较权威的,是吴辉先生翻译的科克伦的《抽样技术》。在那本书里,他把“PPS”抽样翻译成“按照与单位大小成比例的概率抽样”
The “PPS” sampling is one of a large family of sampling methods. The difference with other members is that his Chinese translation is the most miserable and most likely to cause any disagreement. There is no way to know where the original translation of the “PPS” sample came from. The more authoritative one is Cochrane’s “sampling technique” translated by Mr. Wu Hui. In that book, he translated the “PPS” sample as “sampling at a probability proportional to unit size”
