In this clear and thought-provoking book, Professor Reid discusses the relationship between formal philosophy, especially moral philosophy, and educational theory and practice, and philosophically discusses several major educational issues. The first part argues that the theory and practice of education are fundamentally philosophical in the final analysis based on a number of deeply rooted assumptions - for example, on human nature, especially on value. Reed examined the implications of applying the theory to practice, especially the application of philosophy to education. He clarified the nature of personality and its impact on education and analyzed the concept of freedom. The second part of the book begins with an engaging chapter in ontological training
