Yueyang Tower The Yueyang Tower lies in the west of Yueyang City, near the Dongtinghu Lake, at an emblematic spot facing the Junshan Mountain. It is one of China’s three famous towers south of the Yangtze River, together with the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and the Tengwangge Pavilion in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. The Yueyang Tower was originally built for soldiers to rest on and keep watch. In the third century, a general of the Wu Kingdom trained his soldiers here and then rebuilt it as a tower to review his troops.
