长期以来，特别是我国实行改革开放以来，尽管英语教材很多，但成人英语水平已不适应国民经济发展的需要。新出版的“全国成人高等教育规划教材《AdultEnglish》”一书。能否打破这种局面，提高成人英语的水平？本文从英语教材和成人英语水平的现状和发展，该教材所需要的与其相匹配的教学方法和该教材内容本身的重大变革等三方面进行了具有一定深度和广度的研究。从理论和实践的角度上说明了新教材是改革开放、发展语言教学的需要，新教材是改变传统教学模式的文字素材、新教材的种种变化是教学改革的一种新尝试、新的创举。
For a long time, especially since the implementation of China’s reform and opening up, despite the large number of English teaching materials, the English proficiency of adults has not met the needs of national economic development. The newly published “AdultEnglish” national adult higher education planning materials "a book. Can we break this situation and improve the standard of adult English? This article has carried on the research to a certain extent and breadth from three aspects: the current situation and the development of the English teaching material and the English proficiency of the adult, the matching teaching method required by the textbook and the major changes of the textbook itself. From the perspective of theory and practice, it shows that the new textbook is the need of reform and opening up and the development of language teaching. The new textbook is a text material that changes the traditional teaching mode. All the changes in the new textbook are a new attempt and a new initiative in teaching reform.
