该品系是省农科院张掖试验场由5702×晋农55杂交组合(粮作所选配)的F_1代中,经逐年选育而来的。属无芒、白穗、红粒变种。1975年参加品比,1976年参加区试,普遍表现耐寒,喜水肥,抗倒伏,抗黄矮病,中早熟,高产。1977年开始示范推广,一般亩产600—700斤;水肥条件好,管理恰当时,亩产可达千斤以上。1979—1980年度高台县种植3500亩,平均亩产911斤。1980—1981年度仅高台县和酒泉上坝公社两地统计,已推广18530亩。宜在河西中部灌区和酒泉洪水灌区种植。
