“Chinese Musicology” ushered in the 100th anniversary commemoration, as a retired officer of the Institute of Chinese Academy of Music, I would like to write an article to congratulate. However, the topic of this article is different from what I have written in the past, and is about the oratorio “Christmas song” composed by Zhao Zichen in 1944 and composed by Zhang Xiaohu. This piece of music collection of music in the reference room, has been dusty for more than 60 years. When Mr. Zhao Zichen was president of the Yanjing University School of Religion, my father was his student. In 1950, at the invitation of Mr. Zhao, my father brought our whole family back from the United States and taught at the Religious College. Therefore, I have contact and contact with Mr. Zhao and my family. Since the reform and opening up, especially since the 21st century, there has been an increase in research and observances of Mr. Zhao by the academic and religious circles. As a junior, I also have the opportunity to participate in the study. 1 In particular, around the year of 2004, Yanjing Research Institute edited and published a large volume of “Zhao Zichen’s Collected Works”, and asked me to help organize and compile Mr. Zhao’s lyrics creation on holy music. This gave me a chance to have direct contact with Mr. Zhao and Music related writing and writing. Unfortunately, “Christmas song” was not incorporated into the “Zhao Zichen Collected Works.” I would like to take this opportunity to conduct some research and analysis because “Christmas song” is an exploration of the creation of Western religious music in China and an important practice of the localization of the large-scale Christian music creation in China.
