In recent years, Zao Wugu’s works have repeatedly set auction records. This is an excellent window to observe the Chinese art market. On April 9, 2013, Zhao Wuji died of illness due to illness in the Swiss state of Vaud, at the age of 93. For Westerners, his paintings catered to their reverie of “Oriental”; while in China, it was appreciated that he orientated the understanding of abstract painting. In this era, the masters have been leaving one after another, which, though helpless, gives people a sense of distance to see more clearly the imprint left by their works for the times.
