Pump pumping station standard design is an important obstacle to the diversity of water conditions near the area. The geometry and placement of the immediate upper basin area is subject to site-specific constraints that make it virtually impossible to standardize the design. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the water flow conditions in the near areas one by one to determine their influence on the hydraulic performance of the respective pumping pits. A case study of a specific pumping design is presented. The design is based on the results of a hydraulic model test. The design of the design depends largely on the condition of near-water flow. The effect of several design elements and site constraints on the hydraulic performance and the shape of the sump is illustrated. The study concluded that in order to arrive at the standard design of a pumping basin, existing design practices must be broken.
