自1997年底《北京文学》杂志发起中学语文教育问题的讨论以来,各地报刊就此发表了许多文章。从社会主义改革开放和现代化建设的需要出发,反思中学语文教育,总结经验教训,探索改进的方法,本是教育改革的应有之义,实际上,大部分人也正是这样做的;但是,在讨论中,也确有少数文章偏离了正确的方向。其中,《审视中学语文教育》(汕头大学出版社1999年4月版。以下简称《审视》)一书中的某些言论则走得更远。在诸如我国语文教育的指导思想是不是过时、新中国50年的教育是成功还是失败、教育要不要坚持马克思主义的指导地位、语文课要不要承担思想道德教育任务等一些重大问题上,《审视》一书某些作者的观点是错误的,有必要予以澄清。
