甲状腺功能低下是先天性低智能儿的常见原因之一,若能在出生后三个月内确诊并给予治疗,则75％的患儿智商可增至85。当延至出生后3～7个月才开始治疗时,则85％的患儿将遗留下不可逆转的智能损害。
Hypothyroidism is one of the most common causes of congenital low intelligence. If diagnosed and treated within three months after birth, 75% of children have an IQ of 85. When treatment is delayed until 3 to 7 months after birth, 85% of the children will inherit irreversible intellectual impairment.
