Objective:To identify effectiveness of ring pessary treatment for women with pelvic organ prolapse(POP), and analyze the risk factors of treatment failure. Methods:This study prospectively analyzed the visiting results of 66 women with POP 1 week,1 month, and 3 months after implementation of pessary. Results:Successful rates of satisfactory pessary fitting over 1 month and 3 months were 72.7%(48/66) and 65.25%(43/66),respectively(P>0.05).No observed complications were found during the treatment.Pessary fitting results were not correlated with site or severity of POP.Risk factors affecting pessary fitting include:pelvic organ prolapse combined with urinary incontinence, shortened vagina and widened vulval slit.Major cause of treatment failure is due to difficulty of implementation of pessary. Conclusion:Ring pessary is an effective, cheap non-surgery treatment of POP,and a half of the patients receive this treatment with satisfactory result. One month could be used as a proper assessment period of satisfactory treatment.
