东北农学院的作物育种工作,开始于1949年。当时学院初建,在院党组织的大力鼓励与支持下,成立了规模不大的作物及蔬菜试验站,开展了春小麦、大豆、玉米及甜菜等作物的育种工作。在过去的三十年中,虽然有这样与那样的困难,以及不正确思潮的干扰,与林彪“四人邦”的破坏,作物试验场地前后八次搬家,但是在党的正确领导下,在参与工作同志们的努力不懈,辛勤钻研与顽强的坚持下,作物育种工作始终没有中断,为社会主义建设做出了成绩,受到了人民群众的表扬和全国及黑龙江科学大会的奖励。
