由上海外国语学院戴炜栋教授主编的中小学英语系列教材是为适应我国沿海开放城市对外语人才的迫切需要而编写的。旨在通过听、说、读、写的基本训练,初步培养学生的语言能力和交际能力。在整个教学过程中,渗透爱国主义教育和思想品德教育,使学生在德育、智育等方面均得到发展,为进一步学习和运用英语打好基础。新教材具有以下特色:一、采用结构功能法体系编写,将传统和现代教学法的优点有机地结合在一起根据结构功能法的特点,教材编写以结构为主体,辅以情景,把交际功能的训练贯穿始终。这样,教材既继承了传统教学法系统性强、循序渐进、注意语言的正确性和规范性、便于初学者打基础的优点,又融合了功能法注意语言的交际性及实用性、突出言语能力训练的长处,同时还兼顾了目前中小学师资水平和教师习惯于结构法教学的现状。二、阶段要求明确,小学、初中和高中教材各具特色
