2008年5月12日,四川省汶川发生特大地震,四川音乐学院受到波及。学院当天即成立了应急指挥部,精心组织,统一指挥,确保学院师生员工的生命财产安全。同时,从14日上午开始,学院开展向重灾区献爱心活动,并于当日中午,由党委书记柴永柏带领慰问组和院长敖昌群带领创作组分别赶赴都江堰市重灾区慰问武警部队和受灾群众,并将捐赠的钱物、食品、饮用水、药品、防寒衣等救灾物资送到都江堰市重灾区;创作组深入灾区,很短时间即创作了十余首抗震救灾歌曲,用音乐作品鼓舞人民群众抗震救灾的士气。回校后师生们立即投入排练和录音,通过电台和电视台,这些歌曲很快响彻了全川。
