“‘全面發展’的教育,就是个性全面發展的教育:一方面要培养兒童的共性,一方面要發展兒童的个性。本来發展个性,就是包括因材施教的,用不着再在‘全面發展’之后,提出‘因材施教’的字样来。“不过‘全面發展’被許多人誤解、誤用,把‘个性’忘掉了,为了使大家明确甚至家喻戶曉起见,提出‘全面發展因材施教’来,我也是不反对的。”以上是我在某次座談会上發表的意見。最近王铁、崔阶平、郭林諸位同志(他們也参加某次座談会,都發表过意見),都在上期的人民教育 發表了經过考虑的文章,認为因材施教是教育方法,不能和全面發展的教育方針并提。王铁同志并且引經据典地說明全面發展的完整性,好像認为因材施教如果和全面發展并提,就不免是画蛇添足。我对于王鉄同志解釋全面發展的馬克思主义科学教育理論,是完全同意的,所以我不想在理論方面多說全面發展教育的涵义。但是就中国具体情况而諭,我还是固执我在某次座談会上發表过的意見。
