From Sept. 30 to 10 this year,the lotus painting exhibition of Shanxi’s famous painter Li Yebin had been hosted by Shanxi International Cultural Exchange Association and the Macao Center for Education, Sci-ence & Culture (MCESC) in the MCESC’s exhibition hall. Deputy Director of Xin Hua News Agency Macao Branch Zong Guangyao , Chairman of Macao Foundation Lu Deqi, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Commercial Chamber in Macao Cui Deqi together cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony.Messages of congratulation were sent to by Shanxi Counsellor office and Shanxi Artist Associa-tion. Meanwhile, many baskets of flowers were presented with the compliments of Ma Mankei, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Chinese Commercial Chamber, as well as other prominent public figures and organizations. 40 lotus paintings and 10 others such as “Lotus’s seeds are delicious, Delicate fragrance from afar”and “Flowers of pureness and noblness”,ness, were shown on this exhibition.The most famous painter in Macao Mr. Cui Deqi, who is already 90 years old, attended the ceremony and bought the ”Flowers, of pureness and nobleness“ at a price of 12000 RMB. In this picture, which was highly praised by Mr. Cui, severa1 clean and elegant white lotus were hugged silently by lotus leaves in the moonlight. Lotus is usually considered as a symbol of happiness in Macao, It was said that Mr. Li’ s lotus painting exhibition in Macaw was a coincidence,as well as a special gift for Macao’s returning home.During his interview with the reporters, Deputy Director of the Xin Hua News Agency Macaw Branch Mr. Zong Guangyao said that culture exchange between Macao and Shanxi was to be enhanced to let the people in Maca know Shanxi more.
