The LTC (?) 4251 is a 6-pin thin SOT-23 Hot Swap ™ controller with multi-level current limiting that protects -48V applications without damage in the event of a different type of power failure. Intrusive current is effectively limited so that the board can safely plug into a live -48V backplane. Overcurrent faults are also effectively limited but not blocked until the time-out of the regular circuit breakers, which allows the board to control input voltage steps or transient faults. Serious failure will make the power immediately blocked to protect the circuit board from short circuit damage. The LTC4251’s small SOT-23 package suffices for DC / DC converter modules
