高原３５６是为我省东部温暖灌区发展间、套、复种而选育的春小麦新品种。具有丰产、早熟、抗倒伏等性状。１９９２－１９９３年青海省区域试验，增产６．７％－６３．７％。与间作玉米的混合产量增力。３．１％－１９．６％，与套种黄豆混合产量居第一位。１９９３－１９９４年生产试验，与玉米间作混合产量增加７．６％－１７．８％，和黄豆套种的混合产量增加２９．０％。该品种从出苗到成熟９１－１１５天。在海拔２８００ｍ的冷凉中位山旱地试种亩产５１０ｋｇ，比对照增产１３．８％。高原３５６在间作套种中的产量构成因素为：亩苗数２２．４－３２．９１，亩穗数３０．２－５１．２万，穗粒数３６－４２．３粒，千粒重４４．８－５３．２９。是我省目前间、套、复种较理想的春小麦新品种。
