Small, single-focus mass spectrometers have been used for light isotope analysis, vacuum detection and gas analysis for 40 years. Due to its simple structure, convenient operation and high sensitivity, quadrupole mass filter which has developed rapidly in recent ten years has replaced magnetic deflection mass spectrometer in some fields of application.
