The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling has drawn much attention due to its central role in growth regulation, which plays an important role in many aspects of cell growth, proliferation, differentiation and cell cycle regulation. The mTOR signaling pathway is complex and extensive, in which regulation of multiple elements is closely related to tumorigenesis. In recent years, studies have shown that overexpression of mTOR signaling pathway in cervical cancer, indicating that the occurrence and development of cervical cancer and mTOR signaling pathways are closely linked. This provides a basis for finding specific targeted therapies that block this pathway. However, its specific mechanism still needs further study. This review summarizes the composition, function, regulation of mTOR signaling pathway and its relationship with the occurrence and development of cervical cancer.
