我们的伟大领袖和导师毛主席在一九五八年八月九日和一九五九年九月二十一日曾先后两次视察山东省农业科学研究所(我院前身)的棉花试验田。两次我都幸福地迎接了毛主席,并当面聆听了他老人家的指示。这不但是对棉花科学实验的亲切关怀,而且是对整个农业科学的关怀;不但是对我院科学研究的关怀,而且是对全国农业科学的关怀!我缅怀毛主席当年视察的情景,不禁心潮澎湃,力量无穷,誓把毛主席的指示全部实现,不达目的,决不罢休。一九五八年八月九日下午五时,毛主席首次视察我院,他老人家走进了棉花试验田,看到棉花长得很好,亲手拨开棉花,和我一起仔细地自下而上数一棵结桃累累的棉花,共数了六十四个大桃子。毛主席微笑着对我说:“很好,你学的学问都用上了。”我回答主席说:“以前不好,今年因为省委在这里和我们一起种试验田,我们就想尽千方百计,把棉花种
