在举国上下纪念邓小平百年诞辰之际,自治区新华书店组织了全面反映邓小平同志光辉思想和丰功伟绩的图书共计300余种,供读者购买阅读。同时,自治区新华书店还向全疆新华书店配送纪念邓小平诞辰100周年的图书2万余册,配送新中国成立55周年的图书3万余册。从3月12日起,各新华书店悬挂横幅并在显著位置设立专架、专柜,搭建展台,集中宣传邓小平丰功伟绩的重点图书以及展示我党我军发展历史等方面的图书。据统计,从3月12日至8月12日期间,新华书店国际图书城和乌鲁木齐购书中心发行纪念邓小平同志的图书达3000多册。8月11日上午,当14个地州市的代表从自治区党委常委、宣传部部长吴敦夫手中接过《画说毛泽东思想》、《画说邓小平理论》、《画说“三个代表”重要思想》三张维汉双语VCD光盘时,把纪念邓小平诞辰100周年活动推向了高潮。
