In 1963, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent me to work in the Soviet Embassy in Moscow. There was a very interesting thing in the work assigned to me by the embassy in that it was to regularly go to an internal Moscow bookstore. The bookstore is located in a semi-basement library near Tverskoy Garden Street in central Moscow. Although there were some major differences between the two parties and the two countries at the time, the two countries still maintained normal diplomatic and inter-party relations. The two sides still provide some convenience and preferential treatment to each other’s embassy. For example, both parties provide each other with some internal information (including the agency’s internal reference, etc.) and the convenience of purchasing a book. In the case of the Soviet Union, these preferential treatments and conveniences are usually provided to the Chinese Embassy in Su, on behalf of the Moscow Diplomatic Service. Going to a Moscow bookstore usually takes place once a month. The Soviet side sends a “new book catalog” to the Chinese embassy every month, which lists the book titles, authors, content briefs, book titles published in the month, or about to be published in the order of content, category and time of publication
